Copyright issueI have been contacted by Schaps? via Flickr that one of my pictures on Flickr has been shortlisted for inclusion in their brochure.
The photo was taken on National Trust property, will they object to its publication if I give Schaps the go ahead to publish, no money is involved, just the knowledge that it has been use. John.
Re: Copyright issueI think not John, it’s free advertising for the National Trust.
Re: Copyright issueI think it is Schmaps as in maps. If it is the one I have seen it is an online travel guide. They link to photos on Flickr.

Re: Copyright issueGethin, you are right, cant spell, no good at english at school.
Re: Copyright issueI would contact the National Trust and get their view on things. They have very stringent rules on Photographs taken on their grounds.
If it is used in any commercial way (Which it sounds like it will be) then they will look for a fee. I would clear it first with them otherwise you may find yourself in some trouble. I have heard of one person being taken to court when using a photo from National Trust grounds that was "SOLD" to an organisation without prior permission. I state SOLD as I am aware that you are offering for free before it is still a commercial venture that is obtaining the photographs. Be warned, National Trust take very dim views on breaking any of their rules or protocols.
Re: Copyright issueI would not bother, The National Trust are obcessed with people taking photographs. However when I went to Coughton Court a few weeks ago I was told it was OK to take pictures in the house but no flash.
Regards
Alan
Re: Copyright issueThe National Trust now allow you to take indoor shots in most properties but no flash and try not to get other visitors in frame. There are still some restricted properties due to copyright issues and where the Trust does not actually own the property. Posting to sites such as Flickr is OK but not commercial sites.
Re: Copyright issueI was contacted by Schmap as well, they wanted to shortlist one of my photos from Hanbury hall. Knowing that the national trust can be a bit picky about photography I decided to drop them an e-mail to their phot library.
The quite unequivical response was - no I can't let them use my photo and I should ask Schmap to contact the photo library if they want any pictures of National Trust property. Strange of the NT really as a guide book is free advertising.... Oh well....................................
Re: Copyright issueIts not really strange.
They are losing out on Revenue of pictures that they have taken of their own properties. You can understand them being a bit picky around these sort of things.
