Every Tuesday evening we get together at 7.45 p.m. for 8.00 p.m. at Webheath village Hall, Heathfield Road, Redditch, Worcestershire, that’s when we are not on one of our ‘out and about’ evenings in the summer.
If rained off there is always a public house to be found for shelter!
Our members enjoy using their compact cameras together with the latest digital SLRs and we help members to achieve the best results from their camera.
Whether or not you have only just purchased your camera or, even want advice on becoming a digital camera owner, we will be able to help you.
Tea and coffee with soft cold drinks and biscuits are always to hand and this is when we usually catch up on the socialising.
We strive to have a varied calendar to include presentations and tutorials. There is often a lot of fun to be had on these practical and social occasions.
We hold portraiture evenings for those who want to use a full working studio.
2008 saw our first Open Day which was a great success and the people who attended received a warm welcome. The day promoted members’ work, and there was a knowledgeable team on standby for photographic queries. There were also two working studios, for portraits on the day.
Another Annual event is an evening with Scott and Edwina Lee of Central England Reptile Rescue and Bird of Prey Sanctuary, who provide an opportunity for local photographers to photograph some of their birds of prey and reptiles at our venue. Last year we raised over £200 for their cause (see their website at www.CERR.co.uk)
Once a month there is a themed assignment night for those who want to submit images, with one to be put forward to the in-house ‘Photographer of The Year’ competition.
These images together with any others can be uploaded on to our members’ personal gallery on our website. If they wish, there is a facility to add their comments and a rating for their peers’ images. This can be done direct from the member’s computer at home anytime day or night.Included on the website is a forum and, once registered, members can post a new thread or add their reply.
In the future we will be considering stay-over outings for those who want to photograph landscapes to include sunrise and sunsets.
We hope this has offered an insight into our club and look forward to meeting with you again.
